🌉 Project Overview
As part of the ongoing multi-phase improvements to the Spring/Fishburne U.S. 17 Drainage Project, Bastion Group was engaged to support the construction of a Phase 5 pump station—a critical infrastructure component helping mitigate flooding in downtown Charleston.
🛠️ Scope of Services
Bastion Group provided structural engineering services specific to cold-formed metal framing systems within the pump station’s mechanical housing:
- Reviewed architectural and structural design documents
- Performed load determination and compliance review per ASCE 7-22 and IBC 2021
- Delivered stamped structural shop drawings for all light gauge components
- Collaborated with the project team to ensure framing was engineered efficiently and compliant with code
⚙️ Engineering Strategy
This project showcases Bastion’s agility in delivering targeted light gauge engineering within larger infrastructure efforts. The framing elements serve key mechanical systems that support the station’s long-term performance under Charleston’s coastal conditions.
✅ Value Delivered
Bastion’s contribution supports the City of Charleston’s flood resiliency strategy by enabling safe, code-compliant integration of critical infrastructure—within budget, and on schedule.
