🏗️ Project Overview
Bastion Group was engaged to provide structural engineering support for a central energy plant (CEP) upgrade at the Bishop Gadsden campus in Charleston. The work centered on evaluating and improving infrastructure to accommodate new chilled water systems essential for facility-wide cooling operations.
🛠️ Scope of Services
To support installation of new chiller equipment, Bastion’s responsibilities included:
- Structural analysis of existing equipment pads to determine load capacity
- Design of new structural concrete pads adjacent to existing systems
- Coordination of loading requirements with mechanical manufacturers
- Optional services for retrofitting structural support elements such as bar joists and reworking existing pads, if necessary
All engineering was performed in accordance with ASCE 7-22 and IBC 2021 standards and stamped by a licensed South Carolina PE.
